AI WorkshopOct 25 · 4–6 PM · Lecaudia · In person

Your business has enough busywork. Put AI to work on one task that matters.

Then relax and network over pizza.

Bring one workflow that takes too much of your time. Learn where AI can help, where a person should stay in control, and what to build next.

1,200+ projects to learn from, with ongoing video tutorials.

Get access to a library of more than 1,200 projects. Each project has its own page with details, so you can see what it does, how it works, and whether it fits your workflow before you build on it.

New video tutorials keep arriving, so there is always a next thing to try after the workshop.

You’ve tried AI. Now make it useful to your business.

Maybe you’ve used it to write an email or brainstorm an idea.

But the work still piles up. Customer requests still need answers. Information is scattered. And every new tool seems to create another decision.

The next step is choosing one useful workflow—and understanding how to make it work reliably.

That’s what this workshop is built around.

One AI workshop. One business problem. A clear next step.

Work on your own business problem or a provided example and leave with:

01

Your AI opportunity map

Identify repetitive steps, bottlenecks, and decisions in one workflow.

02

Your first agent blueprint

Define what the agent should do, what information it needs, and which tools it would connect to.

03

Your human-approval plan

Decide when the agent can prepare work, when it must ask, and when it should stop.

04

Your practical starting point

Identify the access, tools, and skills required for a useful first pilot.

05

Your success checklist

Define how you’ll judge time, cost, quality, and the effort required for human review.

You leave with a completed blueprint and a next step you can act on. Building and deploying the system comes next.

See one business workflow come together.

A customer asks a question. The agent finds relevant information, prepares a response, and proposes the next action. A person reviews it before anything is sent.

We’ll walk through the useful parts—and the moments when the agent should ask for help.

Customer inquiry→Trusted information→Draft response→Human approval→Proposed follow-up

Bring a problem, an idea, or the skills to build.

Small and medium business owners

Find a practical starting point for repetitive operations and customer-facing work.

Startup founders

Scope a useful pilot before spending more time and money building.

Students and engineers

Practice translating a business need into a system someone can use.

Come on your own. No existing team is required. Opportunities to collaborate will be available.

Meet your program lead

Practical AI learning, led by Chhavi Jain.

Program proposer and pilot lead · Vice Chair, IEEE SPS San Diego Chapter · UC San Diego startup mentor

Chhavi Jain proposed the SPS AI Systems and Practitioner Engagement Track — San Diego Pilot to connect students, researchers, and industry practitioners around the challenges of putting AI systems into use. IEEE Signal Processing Society approved $3,500 in support for the pilot through its Member Driven Initiative Program in August 2026.

Her experience includes work at Qualcomm and mentoring within UC San Diego’s startup community. She was invited to return as a mentor for The Basement’s 2026–2027 LaunchPad cohort.

For this program, Chhavi is leading the development of the learning pathway and coordinating its practical workshop experience. The focus is concrete: help participants identify a useful problem, make sound engineering decisions, and document what they build and learn.
